Adrienne Boris is a New York City-based opera professional with over a decade of experience in opera as a stage director, performance coach, producer, and administrator. She also has a strong background in theater and acting training and received her MFA in Theatre Directing from Boston University, where she subsequently served as Lecturer in Acting. A fierce advocate for opera artists throughout her career, she is passionate about working to advance the careers of the ADA roster artists.
Adrienne is the former Artistic Administrator of Opera Boston, where she also served as Artistic Director of Opera Boston Underground. She is currently Chief Strategy Officer at Helios Opera, founded during the pandemic, whose digital initiative Modular Opera Project has since received national press. She is also the Executive Producer & Stage Director of Lowell House Opera, the hybrid student/professional company in residence at Harvard University, where she commissioned and is producing and directing the world premiere of NIGHTTOWN: An Operatic Reimaging of James Joyce’s Ulysses by composer/librettist Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg. Other directing highlights include Adamo’s Little Women with Opera North (NH), La bohème with Long Island Lyric Opera, La scuola degli amanti, ossia: Così fan tutte (a feminist re-imagining) with Lowell House Opera and the world premiere of DIVAS: A New Play with Opera Music with OperaHub, which The Boston Globe called, “touching, funny and fascinating.”
