Opera News has praised Corey Bix for his “clear sense of drama and self-possession, exhibiting sturdy, unwavering control, flinty resonance and confident high notes.” Mr. Bix is quickly becoming known for his stirring portrayals of dramatic tenor repertoire on both opera and concert stages across the globe. The 2021-22 season brings him to Folks Operetta as Francois in Korngold’s rarely performed Die Kathrin, to Nashville Opera as Loge in Das Rheingold, and to San Francisco to cover Florestan in Fidelio. Last season, he was featured in concert with Pittsburgh Festival Opera, made his role debut as Beadle Bamford with Des Moines Metro Opera, and was slated to appear as Scalia in Scalia/Ginsburg with Nashville Opera and as Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos with Arizona Opera (cancelled due to COVID-19).
Following Mr. Bix’s triumphant role debut as Énée in Les Troyens with San Francisco Opera, he returned to the company for Augustin Moser in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and for their production of Jenůfa. Mr. Bix has performed with Washington National Opera, Vienna Volksoper, Fort Worth Opera, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, The Glimmerglass Festival, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Los Angeles Opera, Hungarian National Opera, Oper Graz, Theater Kiel, Stadttheater Giesen, Utah Opera, Austin Opera, Tulsa Opera, and New Orleans Opera, among others.
